College Applicants: College Essays and Brainstorming
Your college essays (Common App and supplemental essays) are critical to distinguish you from the swarm of competitive undergraduate candidates. A one-on-one advising session with Dr. Finkel before you compose your essay(s), followed by Dr. Finkel’s expert editing, will make you a more compelling applicant. Prior to your advising session, Dr. Finkel reviews your background. During your session, she brainstorms individually-tailored essay topics, suggests an explicit outline, pinpoints how to highlight strengths and address weaknesses, and reviews clichés to avoid. Upon receiving your essay draft, Dr. Finkel’s comprehensive edits tighten your organization, form, focus and syntax. The Writer’s Block Package includes up to three revisions of your essay(s).
Please be aware that Dr. Finkel has a policy of working exclusively with the applicant – not parents or spouses. Experience has proven the wisdom of this policy in maintaining confidentiality and avoiding redundancy. Most importantly, in assuming primary responsibility for their work with Dr. Finkel, applicants invest more time and effort, and the outcome is a significantly higher quality application. The Writer’s Block session is a one-on-one conversation between Dr. Finkel and the applicant. Other parties may not participate in these sessions or sit in as observers.

Step 2. Send your background information and at least two means of reaching you(cell, land line, etc.) to insidermedical@gmail.com.

Step 4. After your Writer’s Block Advising Session, submit your college essay(s) draft in Microsoft Word as an attachment to insidermedical@gmail.com.
